The ball does not feature a touch-sensitive outer skin like a smartphone screen. Instead, the internal IMU contains an accelerometer and a gyroscope. It only registers a "touch" when there is a measurable change in the ball's overall linear acceleration or angular velocity (spin).
The sensor captures data 500 times per second (500 Hz). The software behind the system uses strict thresholds to filter out background noise—such as wind resistance, friction from grass, or raindrops—so it only flags genuine mechanical impacts from a player's boot, head, or hand.
